Trainer Chris Waller has announced that Mark Zahra will retain the ride on Caulfield Cup winner Verry Elleegant in the 2020 Melbourne Cup.

In a press release, Waller confirmed that Mark Zahra would keep riding Verry Elleegant, after steering her to Turnbull Stakes and Caulfield Cup victories.

Her usual rider in Sydney, James McDonald, will ride fellow Waller runner Finche in the 2020 Melbourne Cup.

Waller’s press release confirms that his trio of runners from the Caulfield Cup – Verry Elleegant, Finche, and Toffee Tongue – have all recovered well from the race.

Verry Elleegant and Finche will head to the 2020 Melbourne Cup, while Toffee Tongue will head to either the VRC Queen Elizabeth Stakes, or the Matriarch Stakes,or head out to the paddock for a spell.

Verry Elleegant is currently a $10 chance for the Melbourne Cup, with Finche at $19 in the market.

From Muswellbrook to the Melbourne Cup, Will is mad about all things racing and sport. Spent countless hours in the backyard as a child pretending to be Glenn McGrath, and has been known to get deadly late swing with a taped tennis ball.
