Danny O’Brien has confirmed that 2019 winner Vow And Declare will target the 2021 Melbourne Cup next year, with the galloper set to resume in the back end of autumn.
There will be no rush with the talented stayer, who finished 18th in this year’s Melbourne Cup, and could possibly resume in Brisbane, or run in the Andrew Ramsden in Melbourne.
“Then he will go through all the way to the Cups again,” O’Brien said.
“Potentially (we will look at Brisbane). It will just depend on what the program looks like up there.
“Otherwise he could easily run in the Ramsden and the other races they have at Flemington.”

O’Brien is planning to give Russian Camelot an easy autumn preparation, with next year’s spring in mind.
“We just thought The All-Star Mile and the Queen Elizabeth were the most suitable races for him in the autumn,” O’Brien said.
“There’s every chance they will be his only two runs.”
