Verry Elleegant’s co-owner Brae Sokolski has confirmed his glamour mare will be aimed towards the 2020 Caulfield Cup and the 2020 Melbourne Cup this spring.

While running in the Cox Plate was considered for some time within the camp, Sokolski revealed that they would now most likely bypass the contest in favour of a Cups path.

“With what has transpired with Aidan O’Brien coming and some of these other horses now running in the Cox Plate, it makes our decision so much easier,” he said.

“I’d say she’s definitely going to the Caulfield Cup.

“The Cox Plate was looking a little bit shallow about four weeks ago but now with what Russian Camelot did last week and with the internationals now confirmed for the race, it has further galvanised our conviction that the Caulfield Cup is the right race this year.

“We thought with everything that’s gone on this year that we were going to have an easier run at these big races, but it now looks as though they will be as tough as ever.”

Watch: Verry Elleegant win in impressive fashion in the Winx Stakes last start.

Sokolski was weary of the class opposition in Saturday’s 2020 George Main Stakes (1600m), but expected a positive showing from Verry Elleegant.

“She’s just in amazing order and they say she’s definitely come on from her first-up run and the most important thing is that she’s doing so well,” he said.

“She’s a different horse to 12 months ago and I think you are going to see something pretty special from her on Saturday.

“Last spring, she was always behind the eight ball and she was always had some management issues but not so this time.”

Verry Elleegant is a $17 chance for the Caulfield Cup, and a $19 chance for the Melbourne Cup.
