Shelby Cobra Runs out of Gas, Heading to Paddock

Mon 23rd November 2020

Trainer Mike Moroney has confirmed that beaten favourite Shelby Cobra will be heading to the paddock to spell after a disappointing run at Ballarat on Saturday.

The progressive three-year-old was a short-priced $1.65 favourite, but managed to beat home only one runner in a lackluster performance.

Moroney offered an explanation as to why Shelby Cobra failed to fire.

“He’s as good as gold (after the run),” Moroney said.

“He just raced tired. He’s had enough.

“So he is going to the paddock (on Tuesday).”

When asked about what plans were being made for an autumn campaign, Moroney said that connections were yet to finalise anything.

“We will let the dust settle before we have a think about that,” Moroney said.

“We haven’t given it much thought at this stage.”
