Santa Ana Lane also finished second behind Nature Strip in this year’s TJ Smith Stakes in the autumn, and will kickstart his spring campaign in Saturday’s Gilgai Stakes (1200m) at Flemington.
Co-trainer Anthony Freedman said that they had been confident that Santa Ana Lane would gain a slot in The Everest, so the campaign had been geared towards another crack at the race.
“It’s a great privilege to have Santa Ana Lane in The Everest for the third year running”, said co-trainer Anthony Freedman.
“Given his record at Randwick over 1200m we were confident he would receive a slot so it has been our sole focus this preparation.
“It’s a race that continues to grow in popularity each year and we are proud to be involved.
“We’re very pleased to be teaming up with Coolmore as the have been long time clients of the stable.”
Santa Ana Lane is a $26 chance for The Everest.
