Danny O’Brien’s star stayers have taken the first steps in their spring campaigns, completing jumpouts at Flemington on Monday morning.
Russian Camelot has been unsighted since his last run, when he won the Group 1 South Australian Derby, but returned to the track in promising fashion, looking comfortable leading all the way and winning the 1200m hit out.
Russian Camelot is prominently featured in futures markets, currently the outright favourite for the Cox Plate ($11) and the Melbourne Cup ($10), and on the fourth line of betting for the Caulfield Cup ($13).
Watch the trial below, with Russian Camelot in his usual navy and white silks.
2019 Melbourne Cup winner, Vow And Declare, also ran this morning in Danny O’Brien’s navy and white silks, working home strongly late, and is a $26 chance to go back-to-back in this year’s event.
