The upcoming Melbourne Cup Carnival is certainly dominating the racing spotlight, but it’s worth watching this trial from Tuesday morning at Morphettville.

Brazen Boy, an unraced two-year-old gelding out of Brazen Beau for the Phillip Stokes operation, put up absolute panels on his opposition in an 850m trial on Tuesday morning.

Brazen Boy clocked in at 46.73 seconds for the 850m trial, beating home Will Clarken’s duo of fillies, Lockdown Sally and Bleriot.

Tommy Stokes, foreman for the stable, said that punters won’t have to wait long to see the excitement machine go around on raceday.

“He’s not overly big but he is obviously your typical jump and run two-year-old.

“There is a race for him here on Saturday week at Morphettville so that’s the plan with him at this stage.”

From Muswellbrook to the Melbourne Cup, Will is mad about all things racing and sport. Spent countless hours in the backyard as a child pretending to be Glenn McGrath, and has been known to get deadly late swing with a taped tennis ball.
