Star sprinter Nature Strip has pleased the Racing NSW vet on Thursday, following morning trackwork.

The son of Nicconi was scoped after his disappointing performance in the Group 2 Premiere Stakes (1200m) and mucous was detected, prompting a course of antiobiotic and bronchodilator therapy.

Racing NSW Stewards released a report on Nature Strip’s medical condition, stating:

“Subsequent to completing trackwork this morning, Nature Strip was subject to an endoscopic examination in the presence of Racing NSW Chief Veterinary Officer, Dr Toby Koenig.

“Dr Koenig reported that the endoscope confirmed that Nature Strip has responded well to a combination of antibiotic and bronchodilator therapy and in his current condition the gelding is suitable to race.

Mr Waller has confirmed that the gelding will undergo a precautionary endoscope next week, the results of which shall be provided to the Racing NSW Stewards and Veterinary Department.”

Nature Strip is currently a $6 chance for The Everest, to be held on October 17th.

From Muswellbrook to the Melbourne Cup, Will is mad about all things racing and sport. Spent countless hours in the backyard as a child pretending to be Glenn McGrath, and has been known to get deadly late swing with a taped tennis ball.
