Trainer Chris Waller has confirmed that his talented colt Mo’unga will be heading towards the 2020 Caulfield Guineas (1600m) this spring.
After much discussion we’ve decided to prepare Mo’Unga for the Caulfield Guineas & therefore, he will not run in either the Gloaming Stakes or the Golden Rose. After the a series of eye-catching wins, there was some uncertainty as to whether the camp would target the Caulfield Guineas in Melbourne, or stay in Sydney to contest the Golden Rose or the Spring Champion Stakes.
The son of Savabeel showed an impressive turn of foot to win at Newcastle first up this preparation, before winning the listed Dulcify Stakes at Rosehill last start.
Watch: Mo’unga fly down the outside to win at Newcastle.
This is why I love Race Calling!
Every so often you get to call a horse who gives you that little chill that he is something special. I got that today calling this win of Mo’Unga at Newcastle!
Sit back & enjoy his win, it’s stunning! pic.twitter.com/7BPYzyEqjy— Matt Jackson (@Mjackson_racing) August 22, 2020
Mo’unga is now the $5 favourite for the Caulfield Guineas.
