Star mare Melody Belle is yet another big name nomination for the 2021 All-Star Mile, joining the likes of Russian Camelot and Surprise Baby as possible runners in the $5 million race.

The 11-time Group 1 winner placed in last year’s edition behind Regal Power, and trainer Jamie Richards said they are keen to contest the race again if the mare’s form warrants it when she comes back.

“It’s a great concept and we want to try and be a part of it, like we were last year,” Richards said of the All-Star Mile.

“She has got some targets in New Zealand first and then we will make a bit of a plan once we get through those.

“Whether we go to Melbourne or whether we go to Sydney in the autumn is yet to be decided. All the options are on the table.”

The six-year-old will resume in January in New Zealand, possibly hitting the Herbie Dyke Stakes second up before heading to either Melbourne or Sydney depending on her performances.

Melody Belle is currently a $19 chance for the 2021 All-Star Mile.

From Muswellbrook to the Melbourne Cup, Will is mad about all things racing and sport. Spent countless hours in the backyard as a child pretending to be Glenn McGrath, and has been known to get deadly late swing with a taped tennis ball.
