Progressive stayer Master Of Wine is heading to Melbourne to contest the 2020 Feehan Stakes after his average first up outing in the Group 1 Winx Stakes (1400m).

The Hawkes-trained gelding leads nominations for the 2020 Feehan Stakes (1600m), a Group 2 contest that also has a ballot exemption for the Cox Plate for the winner.

Among the other big names in the nominations are Surprise Baby, Humidor, Harbour Views, Dalasan, Kings Will Dream, and Regal Power.

Dalasan will be keen to make up for last weekends shock loss in the Leon MacDonald Stakes, where he lined up as a $1.40 favourite.

2020 Melbourne Cup hopeful Surprise Baby opened as a $4.50 favourite for the Feehan Stakes in the All-In market, but Harbour Views has been heavily supported, firming into favouritism at $3.50.

Master Of Wine ($7), Coming Around ($8), Kings Will Dream ($8), and Mahamedeis ($9) are the other runners under single figures, with Dalasan the next best at $11.

In other news, Nature Strip has opened as the $1.40 favourite in the 2020 Concorde Stakes, attracting just six nominations, as rivals seem wary to take on the star sprinter.

From Muswellbrook to the Melbourne Cup, Will is mad about all things racing and sport. Spent countless hours in the backyard as a child pretending to be Glenn McGrath, and has been known to get deadly late swing with a taped tennis ball.
