Danny O’Brien’s first starter Embolism won on debut at Bendigo over the 1300m on Wednesday afternoon, and has been promptly added to the second line of betting for the 2020 Victoria Derby.
The son of Shamus Award sat midfield on the rail from the inside gate, before jockey Damien Oliver peeled him to the outside around the turn, with the promising colt displaying a nice turn of foot when urged at the 200m mark, winning comfortably.

It has been a successful week for the Danny O’Brien camp with their three-year-olds, with fellow Shamus Award colt Flying Award also firming in futures markets, an $8 Victoria Derby favourite with some bookmakers. Embolism is currently a $15 chance.
