For the first time in more than nine months, punters will be allowed back to Flemington Racecourse for Saturday’s card.
The Victoria Racing Club (VRC) will be allowed to have 1000 guests in attendance on the day, with owners and club members set to cheer on gallopers for Living Legends Race Day.
VRC Chief Executive Officer Steve Rosich said the club was buoyed by the return of patrons, with hopes of bigger numbers of patrons allowed on course over summer.
“The VRC looks forward to seeing members back in the Club Stand and hearing the cheers of owners from right in front of the winning post at Saintly Place, all enjoying a wonderful Flemington race day,” Mr Rosich said.
“Although restricted attendance and a members’ ballot means we are hosting fewer patrons than we’d like, we hope members and guests who can’t be on track will still tune into the day from home while we await further advice from the Victorian Government on when we can welcome more people back.
“We are in continual communication with Government representatives and there is the possibly of increasing capacity to 5,000 patrons for upcoming summer race days.”
