Talented mare Brooklyn Hustle has pulled up well from her last start victory, and has her eyes on Saturday’s listed Carlyon Stakes (1000m) at Moonee Valley.
Owner Anthony Mithen of Rosemont Stud said it was a relief that the eye-catching four-year-old was able to secure the second win of her promising career.
“It was a bit nerve wracking to be honest, because we know the talent that she’s got,” he told RSN.
“I just wanted her to do it for her[self], and be able to show everyone that talent wasn’t just a flash in the pan beating Yes Yes Yes her first time at the races.
“She’s run some bold races in some elite company since then but not seen the winners stall, so to put her in the winners stall and give her a moment of glory and a bit of a confidence booster was the aim, and we ticked that box.”

On Saturday’s task in the Carlyon, Mithen is confident that the daughter of Starspangledbanner will be able to account herself well in listed company, with the possibility of Group racing later in the prep if her performances are trending upwards.
“We know she’ll be stepping up and there’s going to be some classy horses in that field on Saturday, but if she’s as good as we think she is, she should be able to measure up and be competitive, and hopefully be better than that.”
Mithen indicated that the Group 2 McEwen (1000m) at Moonee Valley, the Group 2 Bobby Lewis (1000m) at Flemington, or the Group 3 How Now Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield could all be targeted, depending on how Brooklyn Hustle recovers from Saturday’s run.
Brooklyn Hustle is currently the $3.60 favourite for the listed Carlyon Stakes (1000m) at Moonee Valley on Saturday.
