Kementari is a polarising figure with punters, but Western Australian goliath Bob Peters is of the opinion that the enigmatic galloper is more than capable of winning Saturday’s Group 1 2020 Railway Stakes (1600m) at Ascot.
Peters has a strong hand in the race, with current favourite Inspirational Girl and the in-form Truly Great, who hits Saturday’s $1 million contest in winning form.
Hoop Chris Parnham rose Truly Great to victory in the RJ Peters Stakes, but has jumped aboard Kementari for the Railway Stakes.
“I think he [Parnham] might have been caught up a little bit in thinking that Truly Great couldn’t win on Saturday and he took the ride on Kementari a couple of days before,” said Peters.
“There’s no reason why Kementari can’t win,” he said.
“He’s very well weighted, there’s only 5kg difference in the whole field and he’s a very good horse who has won Group Ones at this distance.”

Inspirational Girl is currently the $3.60 ‘all-in’ favourite for Saturday’s Railway Stakes, with Truly Great at $9, and Kementari a $14 chance.
