Mudgee Cup Expert Tips
Shock Alert $13.00
Shock Alert’s form of late suggests we will see a sharp improvement in the Mudgee Cup.
Although has been well beating in Metropolitan Races in both runs this prep, the gelding’s finish and fitness has rapidly upgraded.
Shock Alert also will also relish the 1600m, winning three races at this distance. With the blinkers also going on for the first time, and Greg Ryan to ride – there looks to be a significant lead.
Great horse at high value.
Chalmers $11.00
Chalmers has been doing well in some of the classic weekend races in the Country.
Beating out Holy Reign to take out Newcastle as 1 of 14, 1400m, and a week later, demolishing Spanish Point to again win 1 out of 14 at 1500m, this only looks like a small step up for the talented gelding.
The competition will be a bit tougher, but given recent form, definitely seems achievable.
Regal Stage $4.60
Although the favourite doesn’t usually take out the bigger races, e.g. Melbourne Cup, Cox Plate and Caulfield, the same cannot be said for Country Cups.
Regal Stage has been in extreme form and with the booking of Winona Costin, looks set to take centre stage.
Although Regal Stage will have both a tenth barrier, and a 61.5 weight as a hindrance, the turn of foot and pace racing seen here should ensure a win.
Also trained by one of the best Aussie Stables in the country, Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott, this horse simply looks like the strongest contender for the 2020 Mudgee Cup.
